(Montreal) A woman died from her injuries after a collision with a truck early Wednesday afternoon in Montreal, in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough.
According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), around 1:40 p.m., 9-1-1 received a call reporting a collision involving a truck and a pedestrian which occurred at the intersection of Sherbrooke Est streets. and Robert-Chevalier, in Pointe-aux-Trembles.
On site, the police came to the aid of a 37-year-old pedestrian who was seriously injured, explains Julien Lévesque, SPVM spokesperson. Due to his condition, considered critical, the victim was evacuated to a hospital in the Montreal region, he adds, but did not survive.
The driver of the truck, a 61-year-old man, was taken to an operational center where he was to be questioned by the police. Impaired driving charges could be filed with the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions.
A security perimeter was erected to allow investigators to carry out a complete analysis of the scene with the help of an SPVM reconstructionist agent.
A portion of Sherbrooke Street was closed westbound, from Robert-Chevalier Street, and was reopened in the early evening.
