The Top 14 rugby match between Montpellier and Toulon, scheduled for Sunday January 2, has been postponed “at a later date following a series of control tests” positive for Covid-19, the National Rugby League (NRL) announced on Saturday. During Boxing Day last weekend, four meetings had already been postponed, including the match between Toulon and Bordeaux-Bègles.

Following a series of control tests provided for by the Covid-19 Protocol and carried out yesterday, the NRL announces the postponement to a later date of the Montpellier Hérault Rugby / Rugby Club Toulonnais meeting, initially scheduled for Sunday January 2 at 9:05 p.m. . pic.twitter.com/eXWp8x8wTD– TOP 14 Rugby (@ top14rugby) January 1, 2022
In order to avoid new postponements, still problematic in an already very busy schedule, the National Rugby League has changed its Covid protocol: 23 players available, including at least 15 professionals and six from the front line, are now sufficient to play.
Several cases had been announced Friday by RC Toulon, without specifying their number. This postponement causes three schedule changes for Sunday’s matches: Bordeaux-Bègles – Biarritz will take place at 4 p.m., then Castres-La Rochelle at 6 p.m. and Lyon-Racing 92 at 9:05 p.m., instead of Montpellier-Toulon.
