Montpellier opener Handré Pollard would be the highest paid rugby player in the world

Montpellier obviously took out the checkbook to recruit Handré Pollard in 2019. According to the English site “Ruck”, the South African opener of the MHR would quite simply be the highest paid rugby player in the world with a salary 1.2 million euros per season. A Top 10 of the highest salaries has just been published. Handré Pollard shares first place with New Zealand back Charles Piutau who plays in Bristol. The opener joined the Hérault just after his coronation in the World Cup with South Africa three years ago.

The first French player to appear in the ranking of the site “Ruck” is 7th. This is Virimi Vakatawa who plays with the English club Gloucester. These figures are in any case to be put into perspective since they do not include any bonuses in the rugby players’ contracts. The advertised salaries also do not take advertising partnerships into account.
