The waltz of coaches continues in Ligue 1. Montpellier announced in a press release on Tuesday, February 7, to have “laid off as a precaution” his trainer Romain Pitau. The Montpellier coach is now the tenth coach laid off this season in Ligue 1. The Hérault club also indicates that his assistants Pascal Baills and Frédéric Mendy have been removed from the professional group. The club’s president, Laurent Nicollin, will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 3 p.m. to comment on the club’s situation.

Fifteenth in the standings with only two points ahead of the red zone, the MHSC remains on a defeat (2-0) against a direct competitor in maintenance, Strasbourg. That too many on the bench for the former MHSC player (2009-2013). Assistant to Olivier Dall’Oglio until his dismissal in mid-October, Romain Pitau had been appointed interim coach before being permanently promoted to head the main team in mid-November, with the mission of restoring momentum to the team.

A semblance of better which did not last long, because Pitau did less well than its predecessor. Since taking charge of the team on October 22, the club have taken just eight points in eleven Ligue 1 games (two wins, two draws and seven defeats) and have been eliminated in the 32nd final of the Coupe de France by Pau, 15th in Ligue 2 (2-1). The coach, who did not find the solutions to revive a club in crisis, paid for the new negative spiral of results.
