Monteregie | The BEI is investigating a police intervention in Carignan

(Carignan) An investigation by the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) is underway after a police intervention for a case of domestic violence in Montérégie, where a man allegedly injured himself.

According to initial information sent to the BEI, police officers from the Régie intermunicipale de police Richelieu-Saint-Laurent (RIPRSL) intervened following a call from a woman to 911 shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday, indicating that she had been the victim of domestic violence in a residence in the municipality of Carignan, on the south shore of Montreal.

When the police arrived, on rue du Granit, the woman was outside while a man, armed with a knife, was inside the house and allegedly inflicted serious injuries.

Still according to the BEI, the police succeeded in disarming the 30-year-old man and the latter was transported to hospital, where he would rest in stable condition at the end of the morning.

All this information will have to be validated by the BEI, which has put six investigators on file.
