(Montreal) A septuagenarian died Friday morning in a collision with the driver of a heavy truck in Sainte-Justine-de-Newton, in Montérégie.
The accident, which occurred at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of 4e row and Route 325, would involve a truck (a heavy vehicle used to transport loads) and a pedestrian.
According to Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, sergeant and spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in Montérégie, the victim was struck by the rear wheels of the heavy vehicle during a “low-speed” turn by the driver.
At the scene, paramedics found the man in critical condition and performed resuscitation. He was then taken to hospital, where the care team pronounced him dead a few hours later. The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed, out of respect for his loved ones.
The truck operator was not injured in the accident.
Two SQ collision scene re-enactors were at the scene of the accident in the middle of the day to analyze the scene and understand what happened.
