Emergency services were called to the scene around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

The collision occurred in the westbound lane of Highway 20. The 33-year-old motorist was then traveling in the opposite direction when he allegedly came face to face with the driver of the truck.

He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead there. The driver of the truck did not suffer any apparent injuries.

A collision investigator from the Sûreté du Québec went to the scene to try to establish the circumstances surrounding this sad event.

Highway 20 was still closed near Saint-Simon on Sunday around 10 a.m. The Sûreté du Québec was cleaning the lanes at the time and hoped to be able to reopen the section to traffic by the end of the morning.
