Montérégie | A road trip results in a serious injury, alcohol could be involved

(L’Île-Perrot) Alcohol and speed could have played a role in a road trip which left a serious injury in L’Île-Perrot, in Montérégie, on the night from Friday to Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old man, is fighting for his life in the hospital.

The emergency services were notified, shortly after midnight, of the swerve that had just occurred on Perrot Boulevard northbound.

“It’s a vehicle that left the road to hit a tree. The 23-year-old driver remained in the vehicle. Moreover, the firefighters had to use the jaws of jail to get it out, ”said Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The seriously injured man was taken to hospital, where his life was still feared on Saturday morning.

“There is a blood sample that was taken from the driver. Alcohol and speed would have played a role in the event, ”said the spokesperson for the SQ.
