An extraordinary scene took place in the small rue des Blés, in the municipality of Saint-Zotique, in Montérégie-Ouest, at the end of the day on Sunday: a 51-year-old man used his vehicle as a weapon to run over a young 20 years old following an altercation.

The driver then fled, but was quickly located by police officers from the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The incident happened around 6:15 p.m.

The driver was arrested and is being interviewed by investigators. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The motivations for the chicanery, as well as the link between the two men, were not known at the time these lines were written, said Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

A reconstructionist will go to the scene to dissect the scene and understand the circumstances of the crime.
