(Sainte-Christine) A man in his forties died from a work accident in an agricultural company in Sainte-Christine, in Montérégie, declared the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) Friday evening.
The man, along with a woman, were found unconscious in a manure pit. The death of the forty-year-old was noted on the spot. The other victim was taken to hospital. She is in serious but stable condition.
“One person may have tried to assist the second and the intervention of the fire department was necessary in this situation to remove the two victims from the place where they were,” says Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the SQ. .
Around 6:30 p.m., emergency services were called following the accident near Route 116.
An investigator from the Sûreté du Québec was assigned to assist the coroner. A CNESST investigator will also visit the site.
