Montérégie: a driver saved two hours after an intervention by the MTQ on Highway 20

A driver was rescued two hours after an intervention by the Quebec Ministry of Transport (MTQ) concerning a lamp post that fell on Highway 20 in Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, in Montérégie.

Around 8 p.m. Friday evening, the MTQ received a call about a fallen lamp post blocking the lanes of Highway 20 near the intersection of Montée Saint-Jean-Baptiste. A recovery operation was therefore carried out.

However, more than two hours later, around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, MTQ and Sûreté du Québec (SQ) patrol officers discovered a vehicle stuck in the ditch during a second pass.

“The vehicle was on its roof several meters from the roadway, submerged in water and partially covered by vegetation. These conditions made it very difficult to see, “said the SQ in a press release.

Further searches led to the rescue of the driver of the vehicle who had become trapped in the trunk of the vehicle.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries that would not be life threatening.
