Montérégie: a car propelled on a pedestrian after an accident

A car was thrown at a pedestrian following a collision on Sunday in Saint-Simon, Montérégie, raising fears for the life of the victim.

It all started around 1:30 p.m. when a 22-year-old driver failed to stop at a mandatory stop when leaving Route 116 to enter Route 211, under the Highway 20 overpass.

In doing so, the motorist hit a second vehicle, which was traveling on Route 211. This one spun at least and ended up hitting a septuagenarian who was traveling on foot, summarized Catherine Bernard , spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and was in critical condition by mid-afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle hit, for her part, suffered minor injuries which nevertheless required her transport to the hospital, while her passenger escaped without a scratch.

The driver who caused the accident was not injured.

An accident scene investigator was called to the scene to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the event. Witnesses were also to be interviewed.
