Montauban erects a statue for the bicentenary of Napoleon’s death

With this statue erected on November 4, Montauban wants to mark several anniversaries: the bicentenary of Napoleon’s death and the centenary of the creation of the Society of Members of the Legion of Honor.

A statue in honor of Napoleon 1st is therefore now throne this Thursday, November 4 on the Allée de l’Empereur, near the Tarn-et-Garonne prefecture. In bronze, the sculpture is one meter high and was made by an artist from the southwest, Emmanuel Michel.

The statue will be placed near that of another actor of the French Revolution, Jeanbon Saint-André, who rallied very early on alongside the Emperor.

The date of the inauguration was not chosen at random since213 years ago Napoleon created the department, November 4, 1808.
