A mechanical breakdown forced the interruption of a lift at the Mont-Sainte-Anne ski resort on Saturday afternoon.
Skiers found themselves stuck for about thirty minutes in the chairlifts of the Express du Sud, at the start of the afternoon.
A mechanical breakdown caused the interruption of the lift, says Hugues Leclerc, director of marketing and communications for the Mont Sainte-Anne and Stoneham resorts.
Mechanics from the station carried out a change of part, and the lift resumed service shortly after 2 p.m. The station remained open.
Mr. Leclerc points out that the nature of the interruption is “completely normal”. “There are procedures to follow. We evacuate and we make the change of room as is done in all ski centers, ”he says.
The incident occurred less than a week after the resort reopened, having been closed for nearly a month after a gondola fell. The Régie du bâtiment du Québec had ordered the ski lifts to be stopped until the start-up conditions were met.
Bad luck: the Stoneham ski resort was also paralyzed on Friday evening. This time, a power outage plunged the mountain, also operated by Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, into darkness.
