Mont Albert: search operation after an avalanche in Gaspésie

A search operation was launched at Mount Albert, in the Gaspé, following an avalanche that injured at least one person on Saturday afternoon.

“For the moment, we have had confirmation that there was an avalanche around 3 p.m. There would be no missing people under the snow, according to the first information, ”explains to the Log Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Mr. Tremblay specifies that only one person was transported to the hospital because of the snowslide.

Currently researching

Guy Lapointe, president of the Quebec Association of Search and Rescue Volunteers (AQBRS), confirms that he is looking for rescuers to go to Mount Albert.

“We just had the alert. Most of the people have probably been found, but we want to do other checks. We do not know more,” says Mr. Lapointe.
