Monsignor Antoine Hérouard is appointed Archbishop of Dijon by Pope Francis this Friday, February 11, 2022 in place of Monsignor Roland Minnerath, 75, who has reached the age limit.
Until now Monsignor Antoine Hérouard was auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Lille. He was Deputy Secretary General then Secretary General of the Conference of Bishops of France from 2005 to 2013. Born in 1956, he was ordained a priest in the diocese of Paris in 1985 before becoming in 2005 the secretariat of the Conference of Bishops of France.
Then in 2014, Bishop Hérouard became rector of the Pontifical French seminary in Rome until 2017. The same year he was appointed auxiliary bishop of Lille. For a little over two years, Monsignor Hérouard had also been the apostolic delegate of the sanctuary of Lourdes.
