The Monod hospital in Le Havre, in Seine-Maritime, was confined in the middle of the afternoon, Thursday April 18, after the “reporting of potentially armed individuals” within the establishment, France Bleu Normandie learned from the hospital group. THE “agents and users were confined within the units” for about an hour, while the police intervened.
“Following the report of an individual likely to be armed within the Monod hospital in Le Havre, the management, as provided for in the establishment’s procedures, has decided to confine the site. The national police immediately initiated a clearance process to ensure that the individual was not present on the premises. Once these checks were completed, before 4 p.m., the hospital confinement was lifted.explains the prefecture on X.
The alert was given around 3 p.m. “Containment in progress at the Jacques Monod hospital. The Jacques Monod hospital site is currently closed. We are unable to accommodate users. Please do not go to the Jacques Monod hospital site “, then indicates the establishment on its Facebook page. A few minutes later, a new Facebook post specifies that there is no “no injuries” neither “hostage taking”. “The situation is currently under control. The police are on site”adds the hospital.
“Our leaders came to us and told us to lock ourselves up because supposedly there was someone with a gun.”testifies a laundry employee at the microphone of France Bleu Normandie.
Finally, around 4 p.m., the hospital announced that the confinement “is up” and “professionals and users can leave the units”. “All people who were unable to attend their consultations or examinations are invited to call back from tomorrow”specifies the establishment.
