Friday, July 22, nearly 1,500 cases of monkeypox are from now on identified in France. 96% of these cases are homosexual men having sex with each other, and this public is therefore primarily targeted by vaccination.

At Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle)a man is relieved because he can finally get vaccinated against monkey pox at the city’s university hospital. “I was at a party in Paris. A lot of my friends got monkeypox.”explains the man, who adds to be vaccinated in order not to have the disease, but also not to transmit it. At Rouen (Seine Maritime)vaccination is also available, and volunteers are there.

The disease, generally benign, can nevertheless be fatal if it is not treated. In most cases, it is very unpleasant, and requires three weeks of isolation. It can be transmitted mainly by prolonged contact with the skin, such as during sexual intercourse, or by contact with the laundry of a sick person. 1,453 cases are confirmed in France, Friday July 22, including 96% in homosexual men who have sex with each other. A public primarily targeted by vaccination.
