He had started in the misunderstanding and the anger after umpteenth clashes between supporters of a football match. It ends, Sunday, December 19, in a fireworks display of French victories. For the last sports weekend before the holidays, French sportsmen have taken care of gifts for their supporters.
In addition to the French handball team, vice-world champion, it is also the biathletes who have worn the tricolor colors high at home. In short, a weekend that ends much better than it started, with new serious incidents in the stands, during the match Paris FC-Lyon.
Handball: the French fall in the final
The weekend could have ended with fireworks. That was the case for almost a period, before it turned into a nightmare. At the end of a superb course, Laura Glauser’s teammates lost in the final of the world championship (29-22). However, the French had done the hardest at the start of the meeting by taking the score to the point of leading (16-12) at the break. It was finally the second period, totally missed, which was fatal for the Blues.
A few months after the Olympics, the Olympic champions narrowly missed the double.
Biathlon: the tricolor festival in Grand-Bornand
At home, the French shone this weekend in Le Grand-Bornand. By winning the first mass start of the season, Sunday, just ahead of his compatriot Quentin Fillon Maillet, Emilien Jacquelin won his third individual victory of his career. Enough to take the lead in the general classification of the World Cup and succeed … Quentin Fillon Maillet, winner of the pursuit, the day before.
What a final competition! World Cup victory # 3 for Emilien Jacquelin in the @BiathlonALGB mass start!

In women, Julia Simon signed an almost perfect weekend: second in the pursuit on Saturday, then second in the mass start on Sunday.
Coupe de France: exploits but big ones at the rendezvous
They are three Ligue 1 clubs to have been eliminated by lower level opponents. Metz, Angers and Troyes were respectively beaten by Bergerac (N2), Linas-Montlhéry (N3) and Nancy (L2). No problem, however, for the leaders of Ligue 1 like Nice, Marseille, Monaco, Montpellier and Lens, all qualified.
Another feat of the weekend: the resident of National 3, Cannes, beat Dijon (Ligue 2).
Paris FC- Lyon, clashes and downs
Three weeks without incidents in the stands, it was surely starting to take too long for some supporters. Unfortunately, clashes broke out in the Lyon parking lot on Friday during the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France match between Paris FC and OL at the Charléty stadium in Paris. Fights then broke out, even forcing spectators to take refuge on the lawn, at half-time of the match.
Result: match abandoned and no winner between the two teams. The disciplinary committee will rule on the fate of the meeting. Another defeat also for the image of French football.
