The French team ended the second day of the European Swimming Championships in Rome with three new medals, this Friday August 12. Maxime Grousset finished in second place in the 50-meter butterfly final in 22”97, just behind the Italian Thomas Ceccon in 22”89. On the same day, the Habs managed to qualify for the 100-meter freestyle final. The French women’s artistic swimming team won a second bronze medal, in the Highlights event, 24 hours after that obtained during the technical event.

A final where Béryl Gastaldello took seventh place (54”83). In the lead after the first half of the race, Bonnet failed to maintain his lead.
This day was marked by the failed start of Frenchman Yohann Ndoye Brouard in the semi-finals of the 200 meter backstroke. When gaining momentum, the footrest of the tricolor dropped. The 21-year-old Frenchman had the right to use his semi-final and he set a canonical time of 1’56”39, the second best time in the semi-finals.
Marie Wattel managed to climb, without problem, in the final of the 50 butterfly meters by winning her semi-final (25”63). In the last event of the day, the 4 x 100 meter mixed medley relay, France took sixth place in the final, a disappointing result.
