The Stars beat the Flyers 3-1

Jacob Peterson broke the deadlock late in the game and the Dallas Stars won 3-1 against the Philadelphia Flyers, who lost for the 12and times in a row.

Peterson got his seventh goal of the season at 16:35 in the third period.

Joe Pavelski completed in an empty net for the Stars, victorious in their last three games.

Positive note for the Flyers, Keith Yandle played a 964and straight game, tying Doug Jarvis’ NHL record.

The 35-year-old American’s streak began in March 2009, with the Coyotes. There are 1074 games, having also played for the Rangers and the Panthers.

Jarvis is now a special adviser to the Canucks. On Monday, he said he would call Yandle to congratulate him.

“It shows his dedication and his love of hockey,” Jarvis said.

Philadelphia also went 12 games without a win in 1998-99, but that was eight losses and four draws.

Roope Hintz was the other Stars scorer and Ivan Provorov scored for the Flyers on Monday.

The two clubs will play again on Tuesday: the Flyers will visit the Islanders, while Dallas will be in New Jersey.

Robin Lehner shuts out Capitals in 1-0 win

Robin Lehner made 34 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Golden Knights clinched a 1-0 win over the Washington Capitals on Monday night.

Making his sixth consecutive start, Lehner earned his first shutout since April 16, 2021. It was his 17and career laundering. In the Capitals camp, this is the first time that we have failed to score at least one goal this season, in 43 games.

Lehner had to work hard, especially on a double penalty kill that lasted 1:57 early in the second period. He stopped three Capitals shots during that streak, including a hard shot from Alex Ovechkin, who will have to wait a little longer before celebrating his 30and goal of the season.

In his first campaign as number one goaltender, the 30-year-old Swede was solid once again past Lars Eller on a two-on-one run late in the second period. He also stood up to Conor Sheary with just five minutes left in the game. Lehner’s brilliance allowed the Golden Knights to be perfect on five penalty kills.

Michael Amadio scored the game’s only goal to give his team a second straight victory after suffering three losses.

Defender Nicolas Hague, who was playing his first game since December 28 after nursing a wrist injury, did the dirty work to create a scoring chance and it was Amadio who finished the job by pushing a return throw to the bottom of the net.

Without key wingers Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty, and pending the arrival of Jack Eichel, the Golden Knights began their perilous journey through the eastern United States on a high note. They will next face the Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Capitals suffered their seventh loss in ten games. Vitek Vanecek allowed one goal on 29 shots.

Troy Terry scored a 23and goal, a Ducks high on Monday, helping Anaheim inflict a 5-3 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Ryan Getzlaf provided a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who will play their next three games in Canada.

Isac Lundestrom, Derek Grant and Greg Pateryn also scored for the visitors.

Hampus Lindholm had three goals and John Gibson made 23 saves.

With 162 victories, Gibson joined Jonas Hiller for third place in Ducks history.

Head coach Dallas Eakins missed a second straight game after testing positive for COVID-19. Geoff Ward took over.

The Ducks will play in Toronto on Wednesday, Montreal on Thursday and Ottawa on Saturday.

For the Bruins, David Pastrnak reached the 20-goal mark for the sixth season in a row.

Taylor Hall and Erik Haula also scored for the Bruins, who had won their last two games. Tuukka Rask blocked 22 shots.

Boston was wrapping up a seven-game home stint with a 5-2 record.

Adam Fox settled the dispute in the sixth round of the shootout to allow the New York Rangers to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Monday night. This is the ninth win in 12 games for the “blue shirts”.

Chris Kreider became the first player to score 30 goals this season in the National Hockey League. Barclay Goodrow also scored and Artemi Panarin had two assists. Igor Shesterkin blocked 28 shots to earn his 20th win this season.

Blake Lizotte and Alex Iafallo scored both goals for the Kings in the second period. Jonathan Quick was solid in goal with 34 saves, but it wasn’t enough. The Kings suffered their fourth loss in five games.

In the shootout, Anze Kopitar and Panarin scored in the third round. Then, rookie Quinton Byfield and young Alexis Lafrenière scored in turn in the fifth round. Eventually, Shesterkin got ahead of Arthur Kaliyev in the sixth round and Fox ended the game with a superb fake and a perfect backhand shot into the top of the net.

The Rangers had started the overtime on the power play since a penalty to Kempe could not be used before the end of the third period. After he came out of the penalty box after 46 seconds of play, the two teams played all of overtime at 4-on-4, because the referees never whistled during the period. The Rangers managed to take five shots and the Kings replied with two.

Trailing by one goal with 5:45 left in the third, Rangers tied the game at 2-2 when Goodrow deflected a point shot from Panarin.

Tempers flared late in the first period when former Rangers Brendan Lemieux hit Ryan Lindgren from behind. As his teammates all rushed to his defense, Lindgren got up and cross-checked Lemieux, earning him a two-minute penalty. Lemieux received a major penalty for giving tape and was expelled for misconduct.

Kreider’s goal extended his one-goal streak to six. During that streak, he had nine goals and two assists. His teammates Panarin and Fox extended their streak with at least one point to five and six respectively.

Johnny Gaudreau scored one goal and had three assists as Matthew Tkachuk had a personal best five assists in a resounding 7-1 victory for the Calgary Flames over the St. Louis Blues.

Four of Tkachuk’s five assists came in the second period as the Flames outshot the column 18-2. Despite a very productive night, Tkachuk saw his five-game goal streak come to an end.

Nikita Zadorov, Chris Tanev, Elias Lindholm, Sean Monahan, Blake Coleman and Adam Ruzicka scored the other goals for the Flames (19-12-6), which notched up just their second victory in seven games.

Tyler Bozak was the only one to find the back of the net for the Blues (25-12-5), who had won six of their last seven games.

Jacob Markstrom blocked 20 shots to earn the win and improve to 14-9-5.

At the other end of the rink, Jordan Binnington suffered the loss. He allowed seven goals on 35 shots before giving way to Ville Husso for the third period.

The Flames were leading 3-1 after twenty minutes when they opened fire on Binnington’s net in the second period. Monahan opened the ball on the power play on a pass from Tkachuk.

Then Coleman made it 5-1 and two minutes later Ruzicka gave the hosts a five-goal lead. Gaudreau added another layer in the last minute of the period by rushing the Blues defense at the entrance of the zone before beating Binnington with a good shot from the side of the mitt.

Both Gaudreau and Tkachuk are going through a great offensive streak, amassing 24 points over the last five games for the Flames. In those five games, Tkachuk had four goals and nine assists while Gaudreau had two goals and nine assists.

Although the score is all to the advantage of the Flames, they had nevertheless started the game very badly. In the fifth minute of play, a turnover followed by poor defensive coverage opened the door for Bozak’s goal which gave the Blues a 1-0 lead.

In the win, defenseman Erik Gudbranson picked up an assist. He was playing his 600th career game in the NHL.
