Tyler Toffoli completed a hat trick at 2:35 in overtime on Monday, allowing the New Jersey Devils to win 6-5 over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Toffoli also scored a hat-trick on October 24 in Montreal against the Canadian, one of his former clubs.
The 31-year-old Ontarian ended the debate with a 20e net this season, a team high for New Jersey. He hit the mark with a wrist shot, after catching a pass from Luke Hughes.
Curtis Lazar (twice) and Nico Hischier were the other Devils scorers.
Simon Nemec and Nathan Bastian each provided two assists, while Vitek Vanecek blocked 28 shots.
For the Golden Knights, Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals, while Nicolas Roy signed a goal and two assists.
Pavel Dorofeyev and Chandler Stephenson had the other goals, while Logan Thompson made 32 saves.
Vegas will be at UBS Arena on Tuesday evening. The New York Islanders won their first game there on Sunday under the leadership of Patrick Roy, 3-2 against the Dallas Stars.

Coyotes win 5-2 against Penguins

Alexander Kerfoot broke the deadlock late in the second period on Monday, guiding the Arizona Coyotes to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Lurking at the left mouth, he converted a short finesse pass from Jason Zucker at 18:01, giving his team a 3-2 lead.
Zucker had scored Arizona’s first goal.
Juuso Valimaki, Lawson Crouse and Nick Bjugstad also scored for the Coyotes, who had lost their last 11 games against the Penguins.
The Coyotes took advantage of a blunder by Evgeni Malkin, while leading 3-2. Receiving a pass from Kristopher Letang, Malkin fumbled the puck, which slipped into an empty net.
Connor Ingram made 25 saves, being beaten by Sidney Crosby and Lars Eller.
Crosby scored a 577e net, joining Mark Recchi at 21e rank of history in this chapter.
Erik Karlsson was complicit in the goal, scoring a point in a ninth straight game. He provided a goal and 10 points during the sequence.

Verhaeghe stands out in Florida win at Nashville

Carter Verhaeghe had a goal and an assist on Monday, helping the Florida Panthers win 4-1 against the Nashville Predators.
Verhaeghe competed in a 300e match in the National League.
Sam Reinhart also placed a puck behind Juuse Saros. He scored a 34e goal this season, establishing a personal mark.
Brandon Montour and Matthew Tkachuk completed in an empty net for the Panthers, who ended a four-game losing streak.
Sam Bennett provided three assists.
Anthony Stolarz made 27 saves including a brilliant one at the expense of Gustav Nyquist with the Predators on top and the score 2-1, midway in the third period.
The Predators’ response came from Jérémy Lauzon.
Saros blocked 34 shots for the Nashville club, which has lost three times in four games.

Bruins beat Jets 4-1

Charlie Coyle broke a 1-1 tie late in the first period and some tight defense helped the Boston Bruins post their fifth straight win Monday night, 4-1 over the Winnipeg Jets in a two-match showdown. teams at the top of their section in the National Hockey League.
Jake DeBrusk and Jakub Lauko also scored for the Bruins, who are 10-1-3 in their last 14 outings.
Goaltender Jeremy Swayman stopped 20 shots for the Bruins, who lead the Eastern Conference standings with 67 points.
