Bo Horvat and Anders Lee scored 1:41 apart in the third period on Monday as the New York Islanders cruised to a 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Horvat beat Tristan Jarry from the short end at 8:34.

Lee then gave the home side a 3-2 lead thanks to assists from Horvat and Matt Martin, following a blunder from Jarry behind his net.

Brock Nelson sealed the win by heading the puck into an empty net at 19:35.

Ilya Sorokin stood out with 45 saves, while Jarry blocked 28 shots.

Jake Guentzel and Jason Zucker replied for the Penguins, defeated in their last three games.

The club have lost nine games in a row against rivals in the Metropolitan section.

The Islanders will host the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night.

The Penguins will host the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.
