Cam Talbot had a 32-save shutout for his first shutout with the Senators and the Ottawa squad posted a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday despite two big losses.
Tim Stutzle hit the boards awkwardly after being hit by Brett Leason and injured his right arm midway through the first period. He did not return to the game.
The Senators also lost the services of Tyler Motte for the last two periods. Motte fell heavily late in the first half and suffered an upper body injury according to the team.
Alex DeBrincat scored two powerplay goals for the Senators (12-14-2). Parker Kelly also hit the mark.
Lukas Dostal made his debut in net for the Ducks (7-19-3). He stopped 35 shots after being recalled from the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League.
The Senators host the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

Rangers come from behind to beat Devils in overtime
Filip Chytil hit the target 2:15 into overtime and the New York Rangers came from behind to defeat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Monday night.
By beating the Devils, Rangers ended their 11 road win streak.
Vincent Trochek led the Rangers offense with a goal and an assist. Kaapo Kakko and Chris Kreider also found the back of the net for the New York side, who found themselves faced with two two-goal deficits before signing a fourth straight win.
Goaltender Igor Shesterkin blocked 26 pucks in front of the Rangers net.
Nico Hischier, Dawson Mercer and Jack Hughes offered the counterpart of the Devils, who had not lost on the road since the first game of the season, in Philadelphia.
In extra time, Chytil scored his sixth goal of the season.
Trailing 3-1 in the second period, Rangers tied the game with two goals in seven seconds after Shesterkin blocked a Hughes penalty shot with 7:10 remaining. The Devils forward was snagged from behind by defender Braden Schneider during a breakaway.
Trochek scored first on the power play with 6:02 left in the period, deflecting a shot from Adam Fox for his 10e of the season. Along with his assist, Fox has had at least one point in 22 of his 30 games.
Kakko then caused a frenzy at Madison Square Garden by collecting his sixth goal of the season immediately after the face-off following Trochek’s net.

Malkin scores late to give Penguins victory
Evgeni Malkin grabbed a loose puck and sent it into an abandoned cage with 35 seconds left in the third period to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday.
Malkin’s ninth goal of the campaign came after Bryan Rust attempted a shot from close range, but Jake Oettinger speared the disc. Malkin then sent the puck into an empty net to extend the Penguins’ winning streak to six.
Pierre-Olivier Joseph scored his first goal of the season for the Penguins. Tristan Jarry stopped 26 shots to improve to 9-0-2 in his last 11 starts.
Roope Hintz scored his 12e goal of the season for the Stars. Oettinger made 23 saves but was unlucky on the game-winning goal due to colliding with Rust.

The Blues get the overtime win
Brayden Schenn scored 2:25 into overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 1-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday.
Jordan Binnington made 25 saves for his second shutout of the season and 12e of her career. He is the sixth goaltender this season to start two games in as many days. On Sunday, he stopped 28 of 31 shots for the Blues in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Schenn jumped on the return of a shot from Jordan Kyrou to seal the victory. Kyrou infiltrated along the left wing, collected a throw-in from Schenn and fired a shot that goalkeeper Juuse Saros sent straight to Schenn, who scored his seventh goal of the campaign.
Saros blocked 21 shots for the Predators, who lost for the third straight time.
Binnington stopped Matt Duchene early in extra time and helped secure victory for the Blues, who had lost six of their last seven games before facing the Predators.

Wild record 2-1 win over Oilers
Matt Boldy scored a goal and added an assist, Frédérick Gaudreau also found the back of the net and the Minnesota Wild beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 on Monday night.
Marc-André Fleury blocked 20 shots and signed his 10e victory of the season for the Wild, winner of eight of its last 10 games.
For Fleury, it’s the 18e times in his career that he has amassed at least 10 wins, which allowed him to join Patrick Roy and Terry Sawchuk for second most in NHL history. The leader is Martin Brodeur with 20 seasons of at least 10 wins.
Connor McDavid got an assist on Zach Hyman’s goal, but his streak with at least one goal stopped at seven.
In the loss, the Oilers’ third in nine games, goaltender Stuart Skinner made 28 saves.
The Oilers’ power play, the best in the NHL, completed the game with a success in five attempts. In his previous five games, he had produced eight goals from 17 chances, and four goals from eight chances in his previous two games.
