Dobson scores a goal and an assist
Noah Dobson had a goal and an assist, Mathew Barzal had two assists and the New York Islanders beat the Ottawa Senators 4-2 on Monday.
Barzal, the Islanders’ leading scorer with 18 points, is still looking for his first goal of the campaign, however.
Oliver Wahlstrom, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Brock Nelson also hit the mark for the Islanders, who have won nine of their last 11 games. Seymon Varlamov stopped 36 shots in the win.
Claude Giroux provided the response for the Senators with a goal and an assist. The Ottawan extended his game streak with at least one point to nine – a streak in which he had six goals and seven assists.
Drake Batherson also scored for the capital club while Tim Stützle collected two assists.
Cam Talbot made 31 saves for the Senators, who have won just one of their last nine games.

Hurricanes blank Blackhawks
Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov made 27 saves for his first career shutout as the Carolina Hurricanes prevailed 3-0 at the expense of the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.
Jordan Martinook and Jordan Staal each had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes (10-5-1). Raleigh club top scorer Andrei Svechnikov scored his 12e net of the campaign as Brent Burns picked up two assists.
Kochetkov wasn’t strained, but made some timely saves from close range shots. He got his second start of the season and his fourth in his career.
The 23-year-old Russian became the first goaltender in Hurricanes and Hartford Whalers history to win his first five games.
Petr Mrazek blocked 29 shots in front of the net for the Blackhawks (6-6-1), who were shut out for the third time this season.

The Flames overcome the Kings
Elias Lindholm and Tyler Toffoli each scored a sixth goal as the Calgary Flames defeated the Los Angeles Kings 6-5 on Monday.
Lindholm and Toffoli also had two assists.
Jonathan Huberdeau, AndBrew Mangiapane, Brett Ritchie and Adam Ruzicka also scored for the winners.
Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves for the Flames.
They won a second game in a row, after seven losses in a row.
Arthur Kaliyev scored a brace in the first period for the Kings, who had won four straight games.
Other scorers were Kevin Fiala, Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe.
Jonathan Quick stopped 23 shots.
The Flames begin a six-game road trip Thursday in Tampa.
The Kings stay in Canada to face the Oilers on Wednesday and the Canucks on Friday.
