Trocheck then joined Pesce at the right time at the left mouth. The defender quickly hit the mark, scoring a fourth goal this season.

Nino Niederreiter, Teuvo Teravainen and Vincent Trocheck scored the other goals for the Hurricanes, who have won their last three games.

Carolina was also playing its third game in four days.

Author of 38 saves, Frederik Andersen was thwarted by Gerry Mayhew, Patrick Brown and Oskar Lindblom.

Andersen shone against Cam Atkinson in overtime.
