Marchand and the victorious Bruins
Brad Marchand had two goals and an assist on Monday, helping the Boston Bruins win 7-3 over the Washington Capitals.
Marchand ignored a nosebleed in the first third, the result of a stick hit from Nic Dowd.
Conor Sheary scored the first two goals of the game. However, the score was 2-2 in the first intermission after a net from David Pastrnak and a goal from Marchand, both on the power play.
Boston ended up scoring six straight goals, including those of Matt Grzelcyk, Craig Smith, Pastrnak and Erik Haula.
Zachary Fucale was sent off after giving up four goals on 16 shots, clocking 27:53. Vitek Vanecek allowed three goals on 15 shots.
TJ Oshie was the other scorer for the Capitals, who have lost their last four games. This is their worst streak of the season.
An accomplice in a goal, Alexander Ovechkin reached 52 points, just one short of league leaders Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl of the Oilers.
The Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. It will be the first match for CH since January 1.
