Auston Matthews scored twice to get to 62 goals and the Toronto Maple Leafs won a third straight game on Monday, winning 6-4 over the Florida Panthers.

Top scorer in the NHL this season, Matthews scored in the first period and in an empty net.

The Leafs held on after taking a 5-1 lead after two periods.

Nick Robertson, Matthew Knies, Tyler Bertuzzi and David Kampf had the other goals for the winners.

Ilya Samsonov made 27 saves for the Toronto clan.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored a goal and three points for Florida.

Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett and Brandon Montour were the other scorers for the Panthers.

Sergei Bobrovsky was beaten five times in 16 shots before giving way to Anthony Stolarz, who made eight saves.

The Panthers will be at the Bell Center on Tuesday.

Toronto will host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.
