The king of qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. For the fourth time in a row, Charles Leclerc took pole position on the streets of Baku on Saturday 14 September. The Ferrari driver won Q3, ahead of Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz. Feeling confident after his victory in the Italian GP on 1 September, Charles Leclerc took his third pole position of the season.
Mexican Sergio Perez (Red Bull) completes the second row. Leader of the general drivers’ standings, the three-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) will start on Sunday (at 1 p.m.) from the third row (6th). The Dutchman has not won since the Spanish Grand Prix on June 23. Note that Briton Lando Norris (McLaren), second in the drivers’ standings, missed out on qualifying (17th). He was eliminated in Q1 after making a mistake.
On the French side, after very sluggish free practice, the Alpine drivers have slightly straightened the bar. Fourth in Q1, Pierre Gasly finished 13th in qualifying. His teammate Esteban Ocon finished 20th.
