Around 200 protesters gathered in the port of La Rochelle early in the morning of Saturday, July 20. Although the gathering took place peacefully, it was eventually dispersed by the police, who fired tear gas.
Tear gas was fired by the police to disperse the 200 demonstrators gathered in the commercial port of La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime) on Saturday July 20. An opposition elected official regrets this, explaining that it is only “a road occupation without damaging property. There is no reason to allow this occupation to take place, which is legitimate, which is part of the right to demonstrate, and the right to demand change of system.“
