(Washington) 2023 MLS champions Columbus Crew will visit the White House on Friday, the team announced Wednesday.
The defending league champions will face DC United the following day in Washington.
“The Columbus Crew is honored to be part of the American tradition of celebrating a title at the White House,” Dee and Jimmy Haslam, principal partners of Haslam Sports Group, said in a statement.
“Our players and staff thoroughly enjoy the opportunities to represent our fans, the city of Columbus, MLS and the game of soccer.”
Columbus won its third title in history last year, after those of 2008 and 2020.
It was the Crew’s first season with head coach Wilfried Nancy, who coached CF Montreal in 2021 and 2022.
The Crew led the league with 67 goals in the regular season.
This year, the team is in third place in the East with 56 points, in 29 games.
