The California club indeed shows a record of 0-4-3, the worst in Major League Soccer (MLS) since the start of the regular calendar. Previously pilot of the Earthquakes II, in the MLS Next Pro, Alex Covelo will ensure the interim. He will be assisted, also on an interim basis, by Chris Wondolowski, Steve Ralston and Luciano Fusco.

Almeyda therefore spent three and a half years at the helm of the Earthquakes, showing a record of 31-42-25.

“Over the past four years, Matias has given everything he has to our club, and we recognize his efforts,” associate manager John Fisher said in a statement. I had the good fortune to know him and his family during their time here, and we really appreciate what they have done for the Earthquakes. We wish them good luck for the future.”

Covelo meanwhile claimed a 1-2-0 record with the Earthquakes II this season. He has held several different roles within the organization since joining in 2017.

Wondolowski, for his part, announced his retirement last November. During his Major League Soccer (MLS) career that began in 2004, he scored 171 regular season goals with the Earthquakes and Houston Dynamo, making him the league’s all-time leading scorer. circuit.
