MLS: CF Montreal announces hiring Corey Wray as sports strategy advisor

CF Montreal announced Tuesday that it has hired Corey Wray as a sports strategy advisor.

Through the analysis and optimization of CF Montreal’s sports activities, Wray will support President and CEO Gabriel Gervais and the technical team over the coming months.

Wray brings 18 seasons of MLS experience, including three MLS Cup victories and a regular season title. Most recently, he served as assistant general manager of the Columbus Crew and general manager of the Crew’s reserve team.

Wray has played a pivotal role in recruiting key members of the Crew’s technical staff, preparing for and selecting them in the annual MLS SuperDraft, and signing key players to the club. His contributions as general manager with the Crew’s reserve team were recognized by being named the MLS NEXT Pro Executive of the Year in 2022, and he was again a finalist in 2023.

“I am very pleased to be able to count on Corey,” said Gabriel Gervais in a press release. “He brings considerable experience in MLS, as well as in-depth expertise in developing young talent. His professionalism and exemplary rigor, as well as his keen analytical sense, make him an asset to our organization.”
