This trio of the Braves is among 160 players who have gained autonomy, in a context where a lockout seems imminent.

For the Astros, shortstop Carlos Correa and pitcher Justin Verlander, who is recovering from surgery Tommy John, have also become free agents.

Other stars who will be able to explore the market include Corey Seager, Trevor Story, Max Scherzer, Marcus Semien, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Michael Conforto and Kevin Gausman.

About fifty additional players are potentially eligible, pending decisions on their contract options for 2022.

Free agents can negotiate contracts with any team starting Sunday night.

It is believed that teams will be reluctant to make any commitments until they know the economic structure of baseball next year.

The collective agreement between Major League Baseball and the Players’ Association will expire on 1er December, and a lockout seems likely.
