This new meeting comes just four days before the date scheduled for the start of training camps.

The players’ union’s chief negotiator, Bruce Meyer, showed up with two lawyers at Commissioner Rob Manfred’s office.

On Thursday, Manfred told a press conference that the league and its owners would submit a new offer at the meeting.

This is only the fifth round of talks on major financial issues since the ninth lockout in major league history began on Dec. 2.

The previous five-year collective agreement expired on 1er December.
