“I was a bit disappointed when the other cars started to pass us and we stalled,” Stroll said in a post-race interview.
The Aston Martin team member racked up points in the drivers’ standings on Sunday for the first time since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in April.
“We got off to a good start and managed to settle into third position at some point in the race. I hope that we will keep a good rhythm throughout the next Grands Prix”, he underlined.
The 24-year-old is now eighth in the driver standings with a total of 35 points in the bank.
A first this season
Stroll recorded a better performance than his teammate Fernando Alonso who settled for seventh position.
The two drivers were respectively neck and neck at one point in the race. Stroll wasn’t surprised when his teammate didn’t try to pass him.
“We fought for sixth and seventh place and I think we wanted to pick up a few points each,” replied Lance Stroll.
