Canadian curlers Rachel Homan and John Morris failed to advance to the semifinals after an 8-7 loss to Italian pair Amos Mosaner and Stefania Constantini on Sunday.
Homan threw his last stone a little too hard and confirmed the Italian victory in the extra end.
The officials needed several moments to measure the distance between the stones and the center in order to award victory to Italy.
Canada finished the preseason with a 5-4 record. Italy, meanwhile, was perfect (9-0).
Sweden, the United Kingdom and Norway will join Italy in the semi-finals to be held later today. The finals will be played on Tuesday in Beijing.
Morris won gold with Kaitlyn Lawes at the PyeongChang Games in 2018. It was the event’s first time at the Games.
