On December 14, 2000, the deputies of the National Assembly unanimously and without prior debate adopted a motion of censure condemning Yves Michaud for supposedly anti-Semitic remarks that he had made the day before during the States General on French in Montreal, where Mr. Michaud drew a parallel between the Jewish community and the sovereignty of Quebec.
Against all odds, Yves Michaud, after taking advantage of all the platforms available to him, never obtained compensation. His reputation as a man of integrity remained tainted for a quarter of a century. Shame on all these elected officials who will have forever stigmatized the life of a great Quebecer who missed his appointment with history. Finally rest in peace, Mr. Michaud!
