Ashley Callingbull has become the first Indigenous woman to be crowned Miss Universe Canada.
The 34-year-old model, actress and television host, originally from the Cree community of Enoch, Alberta, was crowned Saturday in Windsor, Ontario.
Mme Callingbull currently hosts for the National Hockey League, Canadian Football League and National Lacrosse League.
She starred in the series Blackstone And Tribalbroadcast on APTN, in addition to receiving awards and recognition for his community work and activism.
Mme Callingbull had already broken barriers when she became the first Canadian and Indigenous person to win the title of Mme Universe, reserved for married women, and the first indigenous woman to appear as a model for Sports Illustrated in 2022.
She will compete for the title of Miss Universe in Mexico in November.
