A motorist who had one more drink in his head took the highway in the opposite direction before ending his race in a face-to-face encounter overnight from Thursday to Friday, in Mirabel, in the Laurentians.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the 48-year-old driver was traveling in the opposite direction on Highway 50 before hitting another vehicle in a ramp to Highway 15 southbound.
The two drivers suffered minor injuries, but the Boisbriand suspect was arrested and taken to the station, said SQ spokesman Nicholas Scholtus.
With more than double the legal limit for alcohol, the drunk driver had his license suspended on the spot for driving while impaired.
The ramp to Highway 15 towards was closed to motor traffic for part of the night, before reopening earlier in the morning.
