Minnesota Vikings | Quarterback Sam Darnold will replace Kirk Cousins

The Minnesota Vikings have offered quarterback Sam Darnold a one-year, $10 million contract, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The person requested anonymity to speak with the AP because free agents cannot officially agree with new teams until Wednesday, when the NFL’s new fiscal year begins.

Darnold, the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, will be on his fourth team. He will succeed Kirk Cousins, who accepted a contract offer from the Atlanta Falcons on Monday.

Darnold, 26, went 21-35 as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and 49ers from San Francisco. He spent the last campaign in a reserve role behind Brock Purdy in the 49ersand made only one start.

Darnold has thrown 63 touchdown passes and thrown 56 interceptions in 66 career NFL games.
