(Detroit) The Minnesota Twins returned Quebecer Édouard Julien to the AAA level on Saturday, while third baseman Jose Miranda is ready to make a return to play.
Julien was recalled from the St. Paul Saints last Saturday.
In five games since then, the 25-year-old has been limited to two hits in 12 at-bats, striking out eight times. He has walked three times and scored one run.
The Belle Province player is having a difficult season after finishing seventh in the American League rookie of the year voting last year.
Having hit 16 home runs and had a batting average of .263 last season in 109 games, Julien has seven home runs and a batting average of .204 this year in 63 games.
Miranda missed nine games with back pain. This season, he had a .325 average and 43 runs in 76 games.
The Twins lost Saturday’s game 7-2 to the Tigers in Detroit.
