Finance Minister Eric Girard remains hopeful that the return of the Nordiques is possible, following a meeting with the leaders of the National Hockey League (NHL) last week.
Mr. Girard said Wednesday that his enthusiasm was not dampened by the sobriety of the statement subsequently released by the NHL.
“I would say no,” he said, in response to a question asking him if the project was dead. It is important to understand that discussions are confidential. »
Mr. Girard stressed that his statement and that of the NHL leaders were worded in the same terms.
“The communication channels are now open,” explained the minister to journalists before rushing into a room in the National Assembly where a parliamentary committee was waiting for him.
