Québec solidaire (QS) and the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) denounce the “disorganization” of the Minister of Housing, France-Élaine Duranceau, regarding Bill 31 on housing.
Thursday morning, the two opposition parties affirmed that work to study the bill had to be interrupted, because Ms. Duranceau had to have amendments approved by her colleagues in the council of ministers.
According to QS, 24 of the bill’s 38 articles need to be rewritten. The leader of the party, Alexandre Leduc, believes that this demonstrates a “lack of respect from the Coalition Avenir Québec towards the housing issue”.
The PLQ goes in the same direction, affirming that it will essentially be a new bill which will be studied.
According to Liberal Virginie Dufour, Minister Duranceau had ample time to prepare for the detailed study of her bill, but did not do her homework.
Remember that Bill 31 has provoked strong reactions, particularly because the minister wants to put an end to the transfer of leases.
