Minister Duranceau abandons abused women. It’s expensive!

In April 2021, in response to a significant wave of feminicides, the Legault government promised to release sums for the construction of shelters.

In 2024 the cost of these projects will explode.

And Minister Duranceau is blocking the construction of these houses, thus abandoning women victims of violence to their sad fate.

Poverty is expensive…

What do you want, we don’t get along with the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) and we stop everything.

Well then…

Did we just realize that it’s going to cost more than expected?

We compare the cost price of these houses to that of homes for seniors.

We contrast this comparison with the cost of specific equipment used to ensure the safety of women and children…

Nevertheless, we are making progress!

Madame Biron, the Minister for the Status of Women, calls on each of the parties involved to make an effort to lower costs and to come back with other proposals.

We are just sending the SHQ to examine the file from another angle…

There’s no fire at the lake, as they say.

However, since the start of 2024, there have already been 5 feminicides

However, Ms. Duranceau reassures us.

In a message published on X (former Twitter), she writes:

“There is no question of “unplugging” projects. We will make sure that these projects are done. We are simply taking a step aside to ensure that the work is done well and that the projects respect the needs of women and the ability of Quebecers to pay.”

I breathe!

Tell us, Ms. Duranceau, is this really a side step or a pause in your choreography?

Women victims of violence were more likely to expect a leap forward.

It’s expensive?

For now, it is these women who are paying the price.

And it’s overpriced!
