The minimum wage in Quebec will increase next May from $15.25 to $15.75 gross per hour, an increase of 3.3%, slightly lower than that expected in other sectors (+3.7%).
The tipped employee will be paid $12.60 instead of $12.20. This increase announced by the government on January 31 will raise this minimum income to just over half of the national average salary, which places Quebec far behind the most generous European countries. And it is not always sufficient to guarantee a dignified standard of living without poverty.
