According to the Russian city councilor, “the partial mobilization objectives, established on the basis of the President’s decree and the mission of the Ministry of Defense, have been fully met”, allowing the end of the enlistment process in Moscow. “We hope and pray that you come back safe and sound”added Sergei Sobianin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that he did not foresee a new wave of mobilization of Russians in the army, while acknowledging that the current one had experienced failures for almost a month. According to him, 222,000 men out of the 300,000 planned have been recruited, of whom 16,000 are already in “units involved in combat”.
The Russian leader had added during a press conference to foresee the end of the mobilization “in about two weeks”, while his announcement, on September 21, caused great concern and caused tens of thousands of Russians to flee the country to avoid being drafted. Opposition demonstrations against the partial mobilization had also taken place in certain disadvantaged regions in the first days of the mobilization.
