In Ukraine, states providing aid donate equipment that has already been used. It is therefore not always in good condition, difficult to repair and maintain. One more challenge for the Ukrainian army, while time is running out.

A France Télévisions team visited a Ukrainian army rear base in the west of the country. It is here that part of the military equipment sent by the Allies is received. The Americans have just delivered a dozen MaxxPro armored personnel carriers. Although the units on the front line are impatiently awaiting them, these vehicles, stationed for a while at an American base in Europe, are not immediately operational.

“The problem is the windshield, it’s damaged. The drivers can’t see anything, especially in the evening when they drive a lot at night”, explains Viktor, responsible for maintenance. THE “electrical systems” And “the fuses” are also not “not in good condition”. Additional weeks of repairs are needed as time runs out. In another warehouse, France, which is currently modernizing its equipment, sent old Renault vehicles. One of the axles is broken.
Oleh, the head of the workshop, struggles to hide his annoyance: maintaining foreign equipment is becoming more and more of a headache. And despite repeated requests to the allies, spare parts do not arrive. Officials are also requesting on-site trainers and instructors.
