We are still overwhelmed by this beautiful meeting which took place this Thursday in the 16-19 from France Blue Mayenne, program presented by Cédric Ruiz. Little Mila, born to surrogacy in kyiv, Ukraine three weeks ago, spent a few minutes in our studios with his parents who live in Arquenay. The family managed to escape war, chaos, a long journey to return home. Today, Mila’s mum and dad are fighting for their child to have a legal existence, which is not yet the case.
The baby sleeps peacefully in a stroller, finally peace, serenity says Manuella, Mila’s mother: “The first days were long, very long. At first, we didn’t know there was a bunker under our building. We put the mattress in the kitchen, that’s how we lived our first night of bombings”. Then there is the hasty departure from kyiv with a convoy organized by the French Embassy to Poland: “We met all these Ukrainians who were leaving with a plastic bag as a way of life. It was the most terrible, it’s difficult to live with because you only learn about the exodus in books”.
The couple are now fighting for Mila to have a legal and legal existence in France. Absence of a birth certificate, a document which could not be established in time in Ukraine: “impossible therefore for heaps of registrations, no possible bank account or identity document. We are fighting so that she can have a legal existence and so that we can have a normal life with Mila”.
The surrogate mother, a young Ukrainian woman, she lives in a town three hours drive from the capital kyiv. She is fine, stays in touch with the Mayenne couple and Mila, and does not currently intend to leave his country.
