However, he did not remain modest in the TVA Nouvelles 5 p.m. bulletin, ending his interview by proclaiming that “Quebec is back, tabarnak!” (Quebec is back, tabarnak!).

“We didn’t say that on the air?” reacts host Sophie Thibault immediately.

Mike Ward exclaimed in reference to the world record he holds for the greatest number of tickets sold for a live podcast which finds itself threatened this evening by the duo of brothers Jason and Travis Kelce.

“It’s this evening, too, that they’re going to try to beat my record, so I’m going to learn that after the show if I’m still world champion,” says the comedian.

However, he is unequivocal about the possibility of a response if he finds himself stripped of his title.

“If I lose, of course I will try to become champion again,” he assures.

Montreal premiere of “Modeste”

The actor, usually very comfortable before his shows, emphasized in an interview that he felt a “mini stress” this evening.

“I feel like it’s going to be a ‘show’ as usual, but I feel different,” he explains.

In terms of difference, Mr. Ward had clarified that the show “Modest” aims to be lighter than his last, “Noir,” which he wrote in a more difficult period of his life.

“I wrote that and here I am in a beautiful period of my life,” he confides. I was happy writing that, it was even too easy.”

“I thought I had to suffer to write jokes that made sense, but ultimately I can be happy and I write jokes that work too,” he adds. I’m the one who made my life complicated for too long.”

On the other hand, these wise words did not distort his stage persona.

“It’s still “trashy” humor, but it’s just the subjects chosen, they are more joyful, let’s admit.”
